Rabbi Elazar Ben Shammua Said: "Let The Honor Of Your Student Be As Dear To You As Your Own, The Honor Of Your Colleague As The Reverence For Your Teacher, And The Reverence For Your Teacher As The Fear Of Heaven."
A student is obligated to revere his master and sit before him in awe.
Therefore, it is out of place for a teacher to conspicuously honor his student. He should, however, take care to protect his student's dignity.
